I just started a story on FFN and noticed the ads at the bottom of the page. One was for Naruto toys, not surprising since it was a Naruto story. Another one was for hair coloring products. It'd be safe to assume there were plenty of "blond(e), brunet(te), pink-haired, long dark hair, black-haired" descriptions in there. It wasn't even a badly written story. I think google ads are smarter than I am. |

I'm very happy with the way the anime ended and very sad that it's done. I've watched every ep multiple times, often again and again, right after I first get them. The only exception was ep 25. Watched it all the way through and have not rewatched since, though I have watched 26 many, many times.
I'm a little down, because I don't have an anime to look forward to anymore. I've been rewatching Bleach, in the hopes that when I get to the end of what I already have, I'll feel motivated to keep current. And I got all of Blood+, which was a past interest of mine.
Anyways, suggestions on new/ongoing series that I'll be able to squee and be happy about each week? |

Before I lose my train of thought about this, I thought I'd throw the question out there.
Is there an AU where Harry is actually loved by the Dursleys? My thought was that they'd kept the wizarding world a secret from him in order to protect him. After all, it had killed Petunia's dear little sister Lily and left her baby son an orphan. So Harry would go to Hogwarts with the same bright-eyed wonder of canon. Also, his resentment of the Dursleys could be morphed from a neglected, unwanted child into a protected child's resentment of having a secret kept from them that they'd wanted to know about. I'd imagine much of canon would be the same, though my mind boggles at trying to project Harry's character differences given these changes of circumstances. The Dursleys' anger at Harry going to Hogwarts could stem from his continual danger and life-threatening adventures. And Harry could be all "I'm not a little child anymore, you should let me do what I want to do" rebellious teenager at them.
Anyways, this all came to me after a flash thought of Harry introducing his new beau, Severus or Draco, to his over-protective, magic-fearing, but loving family. I had this thought of the Dursleys being impressed by his table manners. O.o; |

I sat down and read HBP over the course of a few days. I did not skip to the end and I did not allow myself to be spoiled in any way. I haven't actually read a book like that in years. I enjoyed it. Especially considering I did not actually read GoF. I just skimmed it to find out who died that everyone was screaming about. I almost wanted to avoid HBP because I liked reading fanfics so much, I didn't want to know what canon had to say. But I did read it and liked it.
But now I find, I'm not much interested in reading HP fanfic so much anymore. I have a few suspicions as to why this is. My favorite character is Snape. And I tend to almost exclusively read Snape slash, with almost any partner. I read Snarry the most, but I think that because there's so much of it. ^_^ Now with the developments of canon Snape in HBP, I'm almost afraid of reading Snape fanfic. I can't comprehend how people could write the kinds of stories I like to read, and still be post-HBP.
In the end, I'm actually writing in this journal, cuz I'm bored. I lost a good third of my reading material when I unconsciously started avoiding HP fanfic. And my other fandoms are slim pickings for whatever reasons. PLUS NaNoWriMo is gonna start soon, so many of my fave authors will be turning to origfic for the next month. So unless I get into their filters (which I tend not to do, cuz I'm a lurker at heart) I won't be able to expect anything from them.

Wow.
I just marathoned PoT 129-142. And it ends in a little bit of a cliffie. And guess what I see when I look at envirosphere? A-O has released PoT 143! Yay!
On another note, I really like Tactics. It's kinda like Sakon, the puppeteer mystery solver. At least the little I've seen of Sakon. But Tactics also has its lighter moments. Very amusing. But there's tiny, or not so tiny, doses of emotional impact too. Plus the characters are really pretty ^__^ |

Happy Fat Tuesday!
Unfortunately, it's swiftly approaching midnight. Tomorrow brings Lent with it. And I've decide to give up fanfiction for Lent. I was thinking about giving up game playing, but I just bought a new game and it seems stupid to waste money like that. To let all my enthusiasm for the game go down the drain along with my money. I thought about giving up anime. But I think giving up fanfiction will be less painful than anime. Also fanfiction seems to take up more time. So hopefully, these next 40 days won't be too painful. I'll just have to make sure that I have Easter off and spend it glued to my computer to catch up on everything. ^_^; I'll probably still coast around a bit and bookmark stuff. And I'll definitely still need to clean out my email of the non-fic stuff. But I'll try my darnedest to not actually read any of the stuff, or spend huge amounts of time looking but not reading stuff. I'm tempted to make an exception for my beloved Magnificent Seven fandom. It's very managable, as in, not a lot of stuff is written constantly. Also, I've never watched the show, so it almost seems like original fiction to me, which I'm allowing myself. But that's just prevaricating. Even if there's not a lot of new stuff being written, there's plenty of older epics I could sink my teeth (and time) into. So no Mag7 either :'( My goal in doing this is to free up more time for other things. If I actually calculated how much time I spent reading fanfic each day, I think I'd horrify myself. Or if not reading it, looking for it, clicking through all my bookmarks checking for updates. It eats up a lot of time. We'll see. I'm not sure I can hold out for so long. Wish me luck! |

That's the cheapest I've found it online. Other online sites had it between $70-$80. And considering that the individual DVDs can cost up to $30 ...
